Sometimes, despite your best efforts, a lesson ends a little bit early leaving the opportunity for unstructured classroom chaos. That’s where these 12 Fun in 5 (minutes) activity cards come in handy. Each game and activity is fast, simple, educational and engaging. They’re the perfect addition to any teacher’s “toolbox”. Each tap into language arts, math and critical thinking skills to both challenge and engage students in short bursts of time. The Fun in 5 cards are designed to be cut into individual cards to be easily accessible at any time.

In this lesson students will learn the background of limericks and the elements that make up this funny type of poem. Using a detailed Limerick Writing Guide, students will develop their own limericks. Once their limericks fulfill all of the limerick elements, students will write a final copy fit for sharing and displaying.

With this guide, students will learn how to enhance their analysis with introductory tags and how to integrate their quote into their writing. In addition, students will be able to review examples of what to do and what not to do when it comes to introducing quotations into their writing. The instruction also provides verbs and phrases that can be used to introduce quotes.
FREE:  End-of-Year Personal Reflection

Foster students’ self-reflection skills, critical thinking, and development of personal values with this journey reflection activity. In this one (or two) day lesson students will investigate quotations about journeys, reflect on their own journey, and complete a personal journey map. In doing so, students will look back at their school year, process their triumphs and stumbles, and develop understanding of the importance of each person’s journey (not just the destination).
